Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association (GCUOBA) is the old boys association of former students of Government College Ughelli. Government College Ughelli is one of Nigeria’s oldest elite schools with distinguished alumni across the professions and across the world. GCUOBA is duly registered with the CAC and is governed by a constitution, which prescribes membership, objectives and discipline, among others.

Terms and Definitions

“The College” means Government College Ughelli;
(b) “Association” means a registered body of Old Boys of Government College Ughelli
(c) “Old Boy” means a person who was duly registered with a school number as a student of the College and has ceased to be a student
(d) Member” of the Association means an Old Boy that voluntarily applied to join the Association and was admitted after fulfilling admission requirements of the Association as well as subscribing to its rules and regulations;
(e) “Financial Member” means a member who has paid all his dues to the branch to which he belongs
(f) “Dues” means membership fee or annual subscription;
(g) “National Executive Council” or “NEC” means the national officers elected from time to time or coopted as resource persons to run the affairs of the Association

(h) “National Executive Council Management Committee” means a select group of national officers mandated by NEC to take urgent decisions in-between meetings on behalf of NEC to be subsequently reported to NEC
(i) “General Meeting” means a meeting of the general membership of the Association or a Branch or a Class
(j) “Branch” means a group of members registered by NEC who are not less than 20 in number residing in a specific geographical area.
(k) “Class” means a group of students admitted into the college in the same academic year and or session.
(l) “Assembly of Classes” means the annual meeting of Class Chairmen and the Principal Officers of the National Executive Council.
(m) “Ancient Mariner” means an old boy that

i. has graduated from the College for 50 or more years; or
ii. was registered as a Class One student of the College 55 or more years ago; or
iii. transferred to be classmate of students registered as Class One students of the College 55 or more years ago; or
iv. was classmate of Higher School Certificate students that were admitted into the College as Class One students 55 or more years ago.
